The Shops at 5 is one of the largest construction retail projects to open in Plymouth County, MA.
A total of 425,000 square feet of retail development recently opened. J. Derenzo Company’s work on
this project, completed for New England Development, included all site work for the project. Initially,
more than 750,000 cubic yards of soils were moved in this former gravel pit to create the finished site
grades. J. Derenzo Company’s $13 million contract included the construction of roads, parking lots,
retaining walls and utilities onsite.
In addition, J. Derenzo Company completed off-site improvements, including a new ramp from Route 3,
a limited access highway to the project, bridge widening, revised and new traffic signalization and
utilities. The project was completed under an expedited six-month schedule to allow the shops to open
on time.
