J. Derenzo Company is the premier site development contractor for mixed use developments both within
and outside the City of Boston. Most of these projects involve the redevelopment of highly congested
brownfields sites within the City. There can be a variety of obstacles and complexities related to each
development. These typically include:
- Contamination of the soils being excavated requiring a detailed soils management program to ensure
proper handling/treatment/disposal;
- Deep-hole excavations involving complex geotechnical designs of earth support systems to allow
excavation of underground parking garages;
- Constricted site access requiring innovation in staging, accessing and completing the work;
- Dewatering the excavation and handling the construction water in an environmentally sound manner;
- Coordination with other contractors and surrounding site uses
