Genzyme - 49 & 55 NY Avenue Science and CUB Buildings

J. Derenzo Company’s completed all excavation and site work for the Central Utility
building and the Science building on this project for Genzyme. Our activities included
the following:
- Excavation & Site work for 2 new buildings and 84" pipe jacking under New York Avenue
- Excavation, site cuts and fills of about 30,000 cubic yards;
- Furnishing and installation of about 8,000 linear feet of water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Furnishing and installation of all sewer and drainage precast concrete structures
- Excavation and backfill of about 3,000 linear feet of site lighting with light pole bases;
- Excavation and backfill of about 2,500 linear feet of electric and telecom duct banks with
respective manholes;
- Open cut excavation and backfill for 1,200 linear feet of steam lines;
- Construction dewatering consisting of 15 deep wells (system that allowed a dry pipe jacking
operation;
- Design and installation of temporary earth support (3 coffer dams) for pipe jacking operation
(jacking and receiving pits)
- Pipe jacking of 84-inch ID pipe, 20-feet deep across New York Avenue for the steam lines to
provide services to other existing buildings
- Furnishing and installation of precast concrete vaults (16'x16') for steam lines installation
& maintenance;
- Site preparation work for all sidewalks and concrete pads;
- Furnishing and installation of about 4,400 linear feet of vertical granite curb;
- Furnishing and installation of about 4,200 square feet of precast concrete pavers;
- Paving of all parking and roadway areas as well as pavement markings
